Our Materials
All AERA materials are completely animal-free and meet various certifications for sustainability. We strive to use the most cutting edge sustainable materials, including BioVeg among others. Our soles, with the exception of our all-weather boots, are Eco-Thunit, an eco-friendly rubber blend designed to reduce environmental impact while maintaining performance. It is typically made from a combination of:
- Natural rubber, sustainably sourced from rubber trees.
- Recycled rubber, from discarded tires or footwear.
- Bio-based or biodegradable additives, to enhance durability and flexibility without harmful chemicals
B. Corp Certified
AERA is the only luxury footwear company to have earned B Corporation (B Corp) Certification, an important milestone in realizing the dream of creating a business that balances profit with purpose. This certification comes as the result of a demanding and rigorous evaluation of the company’s governance, workers, community, and impact on both people and the Environment. As a B Corp, AERA meets the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
Carbon Neutral
AERA is 100% carbon neutral. We begin with a considered approach to our production, packaging, and logistics to minimize our impact on the environment.
We then carefully measure and account for any remaining footprint and offset it completely.
Vegan Certified
All AERA shoes are vegan, cruelty-free, and PETA Certified.
Packaging
Our shoe boxes contain 40% post-consumer recycled waste, are FSC certified, and GMO free.
Inside the box you will find 100% recycled tissue paper and our 100% Global Organic Textile-approved cotton dust bag.
